The new design of starship form Starfleet, this model is sleeker, shorter in height and so stream lined that it looks like it is in motion even when it is sitting in drydock.

When the first of the new design ships, the Enterprise E was commisioned, everyone thought this was a warship that could explore and fight, and with a fleet of these, there was no need for a battleship. But the Borg and the invasion from the Beta Quadrant ended that and a series of battleships was ordered constructed.

The 30 ground attack craft, not used all that much, have been replaced by only 10 craft and only 700 Marines are on board. The space used as staterooms on the Enterprise now hold weapons designed for use against Borg Cubes. The new Sol is still equiped with two rearward firing torpedo tubes and a disruptor cannon and two forward firing disruptor cannon.

The lines of this design, I think, are the most beautiful off the Starfleet design boards.
